A man accused of cashing in on a fake cancer scheme fears for his safety after an attack in jail.
Kristopher Cook suffered a lacerated spleen, broken nose, concussion and a serious eye injury in a vicious assault inside the Calgary Remand Centre on Sunday.
He will remain in hospital for two or three more days.
Cook’s lawyer tells The Calgary Sun he may seek protective custody inside the prison.
Cook faces two counts of fraud over $5,000 after holding a fundraiser for the cancer he claimed he had.
