The family of a man who died in a crash on Hwy 21 wants to personally thank a bystander who risked their life to pull victims from the wreckage.
A retired firefighter from Linden was killed instantly when he was driving home Friday from nearby Three Hills with his son-in-law and his two young sons when they hit a truck head-on pulling a horse trailer.
Les Toews managed to push his one of his sons out the window, but he remained trapped with the other boy.
That’s when a bystander came along and helped pull the two out.
At least two people in the other truck were also killed with both vehicles bursting into flames on impact.
