A bit of a fright for residents in the wee hours Saturday morning in the Wildwood area.
Someone saw a black bear in the neighbourhood at 42nd Street and 5th Avenue S.W.
Calgary Police Service Duty Inspector Paul Stacey says they got the call just after 3 a.m.
“When we arrived at that location, we discovered the black bear was treed. So we made sure it stayed up in the tree and we called Fish and Wildlife to the area. Fish and Wildlife tranquilized it,” says Stacey.
He says they finally got the bear down, which was sleeping soundly, and have since taken it back to their office for relocation later on.
