Some Calgary parents are frustrated over a school bus policy that only provides a one-way trip for children in Kindergarten.

In both the Rocky View school system and some schools in the Catholic school board, there are no buses available at noon hour to take the kids home or pick them up for an afternoon half-day.

The policy is meant to keep down the overall cost of transportation, but is leaving parents scrambling.

One Airdrie parent tells The Calgary Herald she had to take her son out of a Catholic school because of the policy, and is now sending him to a public school within walking distance.

The Calgary Catholic School District says the buses would be too expensive, and there are not enough parents and kids who would use them.
