A Calgary police officer is lucky to have walked away from a serious crash near police headquarters after his car flipped on its roof.
The close call happened around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Duty inspector Darren Leggatt says the officer was turning east on McKnight Blvd from southbound 47th St. N.E. when he was hit by a car that ran a red light.
The Calgary Herald reports neither the policeman nor the other driver suffered serious injuries. The officer was not travelling in a police vehicle.
Police say charges may still be laid.
