A Calgary man has been sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison after a decade of sexually assaulting his daughter.

The man’s daughter told police she had been abused since the age of 12.

A Calgary court heard the teenage victim moved out at 17 to escape her father’s abuse, but was forced to return home because she couldn’t afford to live on her own.

Calgary police only became aware of the allegations when the woman’s mother found sexually explicit pictures the father had taken in his briefcase.
