The damage from Sunday afternoon’s wind storm is still visible in Calgary.
Wind gusts reached nearly 100-kilometres an hour and the strong wind snapped off trees in several neighbourhoods.
Melanie Parent, manager of the Calgary Swap Meet Farmers Market in the southeast, says there’s not much left of the vendor’s tents.
“We tried to hold on but the wind was so hard, that the metal was bending and it was dangerous to stay there so we were just running everywhere,” said Parent.
She says the wind picked up some nearby sand and it came at her like a wall.
Some construction scaffolding downtown was also toppled, but there are no reports of injuries.
