A lucky cat may have used up one of its nine lives escaping a coyote attack in Hidden Valley.

Blackie’s owners were searching for him Thursday after he slipped out of their northwest home.

At around 1 a.m, a neighbour heard the cat screaming and opened the door to find two coyotes pouncing on the animal.

She panicked and tried to scare the coyotes away by turning on the lights.

The cat was seriously injured, but came back to its doorstep the next afternoon.

Blackie’s owner tells the Calgary Sun people need to be more aware that coyotes are in the area, especially pet owners.

This is the second coyote attack on a pet in the area in two months.
