A massive pile of recycled glass may soon be used to pave Calgary’s roads.
Two years worth of recycled materials have been crushed into sand and remain in an eastern part of the city.
Waste management now plan to mix the 15 thousand ton pile into a base layer for roads.
Even though the cost savings is minor, program development leader Paula Magdich tells The National Post it’s much better than having the glass sit in a landfill.
The city just closed a proposal process asking local companies if they were interested in the pile, but received few offers.
