Hundreds of friends and family members filled an Okotoks funeral home Sunday to look back at the life of Amy Sands.

The 27-year-old was killed in a shooting in the garage of a suspected drug house in Dover late last month, and police believe she was not the intended target.

Krista Sylvester of Citytv was at the funeral and says mourners were mindful of the fact charges have not yet been laid in her death.

“They specifically focused on Amy, but there was one mention of hopefully justice will be served, but also grace prevails over justice” said Sylvester.

“People mentioned Amy had a bit of a troubled life; they said it was because she was a sensitive, caring person and life can be hard for her. No specifics were given during the service, but people did say she lived her life to the fullest and she’ll be remembered for that” adds Sylvester.

Amy Sands was the daughter of long-time Okotoks town Councillor Ed Sands, who prepared a special video tribute for his daughter.
