An event held in Calgary Saturday helps bring attention to a cold case murder file.
In August of 2003 Aaron Shoulders was swarmed in front of a downtown nightclub, attacked, beaten and fatally stabbed.
Nine years later the killer or killers remain at large.
Aaron’s mom Stephanie Stehwien says they hold a walk for justice to remember all murder victims which starts at 1st Street southwest and heads to the courthouse.
“At the courthouse we have the reading of the victims names, we have a moment of silence, we have a special song that was written by my daughter called ‘A Picture of You’,” says Stehwien, “and then we walk back to the original place which is the former Nyla nightclub, and then we have a balloon release for all of the murder victims.”
Stehwien says this walk is also a protest against the lenient sentences for murder in Canada.
