The Southern Alberta Kidney March is underway Saturday and Sunday in the Bragg Creek region.
Close to 180 walkers will cover 100 kilometers before the closing ceremony Sunday afternoon in Calgary at Canada Olympic Park.
Communications Manager Diane Panton-Kashuba tells 660news it’s all about raising awareness and funds for kidney disease and organ donation.
“Some of our participants have kidney disease themselves, and they’ve received a kidney transplant, or they are donators of kidneys,” she says, “or they just have a heart for people suffering with life-long chronic illness.”
This is the third annual march with a fundraising goal of $1-million.
The first two years collected $1.6-million.
