It looks like you’ll no longer have to reach for your television remote to turn down the volume when those extra-loud television advertisements come on.
New rules from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) now require digital broadcasters to ensure television programs and commercials all come in at the same volume level.
Last year the CRTC surveyed TV viewers and received 7,000 “yes” responses when they asked if they thought television ads were too loud.
Consumers are being urged to complain directly to broadcasters if they still believe ads are too loud, and to contact the CRTC directly if the problem persists.
