The final numbers are not yet in, but according to a spokesperson for the inquiry into queue jumping in the province’s health-care system, a number of people and parties have applied for intervenor status.

Justice John Vertes will begin hearings next month here in Calgary as well as in Edmonton, according to Sheila-Marie Cook.  But she tells the Calgary Herald, the first testimony won’t come until winter with two weeks set aside for the process in Edmonton in December and another two weeks here in Calgary in January.

Justice Vertes will be looking into allegations of individuals, many with ties to the governing Progressive Conservative party, getting preferential access to the health care system.
