You might be taking a stay-cation for this long weekend and taking the time to recharge before the kids head back to school. If you’re around Calgary this Labour Day Monday, some City of Calgary operated facilities may not be open.
Admin offices are taking the holiday off but will re-open Tuesday for typical hours.
All arenas, aquatic and fitness, and art centres will be closed but parks around the city will be open including Bowness Park.
Calgary transit is operating but on a Sunday level of service, so plan ahead if you’re using the LRT this Monday.

City Administrative Offices – All administrative offices will be closed on Monday, September 3, 2012 and will re-open on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
Calgary Transit – Calgary Transit will provide a Sunday level of service on the holiday Monday, September 3. For information and schedules, please visit www.calgarytransit.com, call Teleride at 403-974-4000, or Calgary Transit Customer Service at 403-262-1000.
Residential blue, black and green cart collection – Residential collection schedules for blue, black and green carts are not affected by the Labour Day holiday.
Community Recycling Depots – Collection at Community Recycling Depots is not affected by the Labour Day holiday.
Landfills – All City of Calgary landfills – East Calgary, Spyhill and Shepard – will be open from 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Labour Day, Monday, September 3.
Animal Services Centre – 2201 Portland Street S.E.
Saturday, Sept. 1: Open 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 2: Open 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 3: Closed

Arenas – All Arenas are closed except for advance bookings.
Athletic Parks – All Athletic Park fields are open with advance bookings.
Aquatics and Fitness Centres – All Aquatics and Fitness Centres are closed on Monday, September 3.
Southland Leisure Centre – Open Monday, Sept. 3 (stat holiday hours) 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Regular admission applies.
Village Square Leisure Centre – Village Square Leisure Centre will be closed on Monday, Sept. 3 as part of its annual maintenance shut down.
Art Centres
Wildflower Arts Centre will be closed Sept. 1-3, for the Labour Day weekend.
North Mount Pleasant Arts Centre will be closed Sept. 1-3, for the Labour Day weekend.
City of Calgary Parks
Bowness Park – Park open 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., daily.
The Miniature train, mini-golf and spray park are closed for park redevelopment.
Inglewood Bird Sanctuary – Park hours: sunrise to sunset year-round.
The Nature Centre is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. including statutory holidays.
Devonian Gardens – Open daily from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Other Facilities
Fort Calgary – Open daily from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Deane House – The Deane House will be closed on Labour Day, Monday, Sept. 3, 2012.
Heritage Park Historical Village – Open 9:30 a.m – 5 p.m.
Free pancake breakfast for the first 500 guests through the gates before 10:30 a.m. The Strathcona Mounted Troop perform their Musical Ride at 2 p.m. Regular admission applies. Traditional Afternoon Tea in the upper Wainwright Hotel at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m but tea is a ticketed event.
Calgary Zoo – Gates open 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily, (Zoo closes at 6 p.m.).
TELUS Spark – Open daily 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
