A Calgary cyclist is a little bruised and shaken after a run in with an animal in Carburn Park.

Laura Wytrykush was on a bike ride near the lagoons Wednesday night when she saw a flash of brown and tumbled to the ground.

A deer had jumped out of the bushes and over her bicycle.

Wytrykush only suffered a small bruise on her shoulder, and laughed about the incident after.

She says she often spots wildlife in the park, but this was an unusually close encounter.

The deer appeared unharmed, bolting back into the bushes.
