BOYLE, Alta. – Alberta police have issued 524 speeding tickets to motorists on Highway 63 in just the past few days.
RCMP say the people that police nabbed include seven who were driving more than 50 km/h over the speed limit.
They also arrested one man for driving 157 km/h through a construction zone in the same area where seven people died in April in a fiery head-on crash.
Cpl. Paul Mitchell says police are being helped by other motorists who have called in with tips about people speeding or driving dangerously.
Mitchell says Mounties and sheriffs will be out in force patrolling Highway 63 over the long weekend.
Forty-six people have died on the highway that links the Edmonton area to the oilsands region since 2006.
