A 27-year-old man has been charged after an alleged fight outside a Calgary bar over the weekend left a man dead.

Scott Robert Hooser has been charged with manslaughter the day after 41-year-old Brian Ludwig was dropped to the ground with what witnesses described as a single punch outside Swigs Pub around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Duty Inspector Craig Skelton tells 660News, the charges stem from the results of an autopsy performed Monday that show the victim died from blunt force trauma.

Ludwig had been at the pub as part of its annual charity fundraiser, a golf tournament.

Hooser will make his first court appearance on Tuesday.

Calgary’s homicide total for this year now stands at seven.
