Paying for medication, on top of regular bills and just putting food on the table, can be tough, or even impossible for those off work due to cancer.
A Calgary organization called Wings of Hope has put together its latest fundraiser to help women with breast cancer deal with the financial burden.
Board member Loretta Tetarenko, who is also in her second battle with the disease, says any help can make a big difference.
“It’s horrendous, you know, I can’t even imagine. I am so blessed that I don’t have that worry but I can’t imagine not being able to buy the medication, not thinking ‘can I buy groceries, pay my rent?’,” says Tetarenko.
There are about two hundred tickets left for the fundraising luncheon, featuring Wendy Mesley, on October 26th.
