A woman is dead after a car hit two pedestrians on the city’s south end Saturday morning.
Police say a vehicle was headed northbound on Macleod Trail and hit the pair at 90th Avenue S.E. at about 1:00 a.m.
Duty Inspector Tammy Pozobon tells 660News police believe the two had been crossing Macleod ‘east to west’ on a red light.
Both victims were rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition but the woman succumbed to her injuries.
Police accident reconstruction investigators shut down northbound Macleod for several hours and reopened the road just before 6 a.m.
Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor, at least on the part of the driver, but police are investigating whether speed was involved.
