Crews are cleaning up after a pipeline leak east of Red Deer.
It reportedly occurred Tuesday at a pipeline owned by Calgary-Based Penn West Exploration.
According to the company close to 300,000 litres of produced water leaked from the pipeline into a canola field.
It’s believed there’s been no direct impact on the public, no injuries have been reported and the produced water has been isolated.
The company says this type of water comes to the surface when oil is produced, and tests conducted show the leaked material is nearly 99 per cent water.
