An ongoing dispute is over with a tragic ending, after 18-year-old Joshua Hogarth was stabbed and killed earlier this week.
Police don’t know the nature of the dispute which led to a confrontation Tuesday morning outside Candlewood Park Estates in the southeast community of Acadia, where the teen’s body was found.
The man charged with second-degree murder in the case, 20-year-old Byron Blanchard was known to police.
Investigators believe Hogarth was stabbed and killed outside the condo.
Sgt. Doug Andrus said they were able to track down Blanchard nearby.
“He was arrested without incident in the 5300 block of Macleod Trail south at a hotel and it was at approximately 6:00 a.m. yesterday (Wednesday) morning,” he said.
Police believe Blanchard was friends with the victim dating back to 2007.
Andrus added they’ve also tracked down a knife and they’ll figure out how it’s connected to the case after a medical examination.
Hogarth’s mother, Debbie, says there are no words to describe how she is feeling and she’s still reeling from the news.
She said she heard Joshua yelling at someone over the phone just hours before he was found dead and he went to meet the person he was arguing with.
A Facebook page has been set up in his memory, where many are expressing their sadness.
“Rest in peace my wonderful cousin. I am so proud to call you family Josh. You will always be loved and missed so much. Love you.”
“Josh, you were always a lovable, charming guy. You made anyone feel comfortable and knew how to put a smile on someone’s face. You have touched everyone’s life. RIP Josh.”
