A Calgary police officer, who doubles as a mortgage broker, has had his real estate license suspended while under investigation for misconduct.
Sgt. Gerard Brand is charged with breach of trust and unauthorized use of a computer and was suspended with pay last week.
Investigators allege Brand used a police database to find local debtors for a fast cash loan company.
The Real Estate Council of Alberta has also suspended the license of Brand’s brokerage company, Sovereign Mortgage Services Ltd.
The Calgary Herald reports the Real Estate Council was forced to suspend the license because Brand refused to cooperate with the investigation.
