Delegates from the Canadian Auto Workers have voted unanimously to merge with the Communications, Energy and Paperworks Union.
The vote, which took place at a Toronto convention on Wednesday, means two of Canada’s largest private-sector unions will be combined into one.
The Paperworkers, meanwhile, will vote on the proposal in October.
The new merged union would represent more than 300,000 workers across approximately 20 economic sectors.
