A suspect in the death of an Alberta peace officer was shackled as he made a brief court appearance in Calgary.

Trevor Kloschinsky, clad in a blue jumpsuit, had his matter put over until Sept. 10.

Kloschinsky, who is 46, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of peace officer Rod Lazenby.

Lazenby died Aug. 10 after going to Kloschinsky’s property near Priddis, southwest of Calgary, to investigate a complaint.

An autopsy has confirmed that Lazenby’s death was a homicide.

Kloschinsky’s lawyer, Kim Ross, has just been retained in the case and is waiting for more information.
