Thousands of Calgarians took to the city’s waterways to cool during over the hot, sunny weekend.

Over 1,300 rafts made their way down the bow; about 750 on Saturday and 550 boats on Sunday.

Fire Battalion Chief Larry Fisher tells the Calgary Sun, crews spoke to about 300 groups to ensure their safety and were pleased to see about 95 per cent of people wearing life-jackets.

While more boaters are wearing life-jackets these days, some are still ignoring the warning signs against traveling down Harvie Passage.

10 rescues happened over the weekend; eight on Saturday alone and both rescues Sunday happened at Harvie Passage.
