With the blue skies overhead, the taste buds are overflowing at Eau Claire Market for the annual Taste of Calgary.

Producer Sue Van Aalst said thanks to the weather, their numbers are up from the last couple of years.

“We’re thinking that we’ll probably see between 60-70,000 people over the four days.” she said. “Interestingly enough, one of our most popular items this year is perogies.”

She added there is one dish that has been flying under the radar, but is now picking up steam: the BLT from Downtown Food.

“The interesting thing about that sandwich is the chef at Downtown Food actually cures his own bacon and it is fantastic, if you like bacon, you got to have this BLT,” she said.

Calgarian and native Brit, Nathan is taking in his first Taste of Calgary experience with some Greek food.

“It’s lovely, it’s lamb with tzatziki on Greek pita bread from Pegasus,” he said. “It’s really, really nice.”

While chowing down on a slider, Nathan is trying foods from across the world.

“Filipino food, really good stuff, barbecued skewers, stuff like that, we had some Greek food, really good stuff too,” he said.

A seafood fan, Larry said he’s opting for Eastern variety dishes.

“I’m enjoying it, it’s Fuji scallop from Fuji Yama, very refreshing oranges, scallops, I love scallops, it tastes great,” he said.

The festival wraps up Sunday at 9:00 p.m.
