World-class firework displays will continue to light up the city sky as part of Globalfest 2012, with a Mexico themed evening Saturday.
    
The 10th anniversary of the show features six nights of musically choreographed firework shows will burst and crackle from Elliston Park in the southeast.

The gates open at 6:00p.m. each night with plenty of food vendors including a few food trucks inside the park.

If you’re bringing the little ones, the Kiddies Korral will keep them entertained with a bouncy house, family story area, and arts and crafts.

Tickets for each night are $15 and shuttles are being provided to the park from Marlborough Mall.

Calgary’s outdoor festival of food and drink is taking over the Eau Claire Plaza for the next four days as Taste of Calgary is back for it’s 16th year.

25 restaurants will have booths set up showcasing international cuisine ranging from Cajun, Caribbean, East Indian, to Persian.

Taste sampling tickets are a dollar each and all portions are served up in sample sizes and there will also be drinks available including over 30 craft beers.

As well, entertainment for young and old including the Chocomax Interactive booth for kids.

The festival runs:

Friday, August 17 – 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, August 18 – 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Sunday, August 19 – 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Maybe you want to take the kids down to the First Annual Hootenany at Heritage Park 10:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. Saturday for old fashioned family fun.

Activities take place on the south lawn of Heritage Park Historical Village and include mini golf, old-fashioned family games, face painting, an instrument petting zoo from the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and much more.

The first 500 guests who pay regular Park admission before 10:30a.m. will enjoy Heritage Park’s famous FREE pancake breakfast.
