The Transportation Safety Board is returning to the site in Indus where a 59-year-old man was left badly injured after crashing an Ultralight plane.

The pilot, who was the only person on board, took flight smoothly but just a few minutes into the air, the craft disappeared from sight.

Just before 1 p.m. Thursday, the plane crash-landed in a nearby canola field and flipped over, with the unconscious pilot trapped underneath.

According to The Calgary Herald, the man had owned the plane for about three months, and had flown it in the state of Washington.

The pilot is expected to make a full recovery; the TSB and RCMP are now investigating what caused the plane to go down.
