The B.C. coroners service is confirming a man killed while mountain climbing in Mount Robson Provincial Park is from Calgary.

Spokesperson Barb McClintock tells 660News 71-year old Rick Collier died Wednesday, when the rock face he was climbing on gave way causing him to fall.

“A lot of boulders and rock was dislodged which of course caused their climbing system to also fall apart. They ended up having a nasty fall” says McClintock.

Collier is described as a highly experienced mountain climber.

He was climbing with three others on Mount Geikie at the time of the accident, two of which were injured.

The other climbers were rescued and Collier’s body was recovered by search and rescue.
