A 16-year-old from Calgary is battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma and is tweeting about her struggles under the handle @CuzIHaveCancer.

Hockey playing teen Victoria Boehm has been sharing her feelings in 140-characters or less garnering attention from athletes like Flames draft choice Jon Gillies and women’s hockey superstar Hayley Wickenheiser.

She’s formed a bond with Gillies messaging back and forth and the player tweets to say he “has her back” on rougher days.

According to The Calgary Herald, when she was diagnosed in late June she was given a 99.9 per cent chance of surviving and is excited to get back to playing hockey.
