Another group is going public with its opposition to the construction of the controversial Northern Gateway Pipeline.
The United Church of Canada is rejecting Enbridge’s project and is sharing its decision with the federal and provincial governments as well as the Calgary-based company and the public.
The chair of the church’s council says the pipeline would do severe environmental damage and the potential for an oil spill and subsequent devastation to the coastline is very real.
The group’s opposition of the pipeline was discussed at the 41st General Council in Ottawa which meets every three years to elect a new church moderator and approve new policies.
