The victim of a fatal car crash at the hands of a drunk driver died in her husbands’ arms, mere hours after they acted as a designated driver to a young family member.
Kelli-Jo Smith, 38, was killed after the pick-up truck she was in with her husband was hit head-on by a speeding Mercedes in southwest Calgary Sunday morning after picking up a cousin at a wedding near Priddis.
Both were ejected from the vehicle, but Smith, the mother of a nine-year-old girl, died on scene from the impact of the collision.
Ramandeep Singh Jaswal, 27, has been charged with impaired driving causing death and is expected back in court next month.
