After demolition finished at the 26th Avenue, S.W. project site for The River, construction has now started on the luxury residential condos.

The development along the Elbow River, is being built by a division of Ledcor Properties Inc., according to the Calgary Herald.

More than 60 per cent of the units in the first phase have been sold, including the almost $ 9 million dollar penthouse, a condo sales record for Calgary.

The project will include 38 residences, including 11 river homes and a 15-storey tower.  

Construction is expected to be done by spring 2015.
