The danger of wildfires south of the Rockies is very high.

The Alberta Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Resource Development says despite rain in the forecast, the recent dry, hot, windy conditions have raised the danger of wildfires in the Southern Rockies.

There are no fires currently burning in the area, but since April 1st, 2012 the area has had 317 fires; 99 per cent of those caused by humans.

Throughout the province 48 wildfires are burning, three of them are out of control while 43 are being held or are under control.
