The flavour of New Orleans has made its way north.

The 28th annual Marda Gras Festival kept the southwest community shaking late Sunday afternoon.

Along with plenty of culture and music, food attracted thousands of people to Marda Loop.

Darren tells 660News the southern food in the city’s southwest is delightful.

“I’m having some Jambalaya. Very good,” Darren says.

Masa says an event like this is good for everyone with plenty of future benefits.

“Marda Loop is a really good community that’s got a lot of mix for both younger professionals and younger families too so all the businesses that are out promoting themselves and the different societies promoting themselves, I think it’s a good mix,” Masa says.

Over 200 vendors were set up along with plenty of food trucks between 33rd Avenue and 34th Avenue.
