A cyclist has died of his injuries after being hit by a car in the city’s deep south.
Calgary Police say a Chevy Cavalier collided with the 19-year-old cyclist around 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Highway 22X at Chaparral Boulevard.
Duty Inspector Paul Stacey tells 660News, the traffic section will be investigating the direction of travel the cyclist was going and what his visibility was like.
Stacey says, “He didn’t appear to have any lights on his bicycle, but they’ve seized his clothing and are going to be doing some tests to see how visible his clothing may have been as he was riding on his bicycle.”
Stacey says investigators will also look at the lighting factor at the intersection.
He adds at this point, alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
