An empty house on fire in the community of Montgomery was the cause of heavy billowing smoke late Friday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the single storey building in the 1600 block of 46th street at 5:30 p.m.
Battalion Chief Larry Fisher tells 660News, crews worked their way through the structure to make sure no one was inside.
“The house has been abandoned for quite some time, but as a standard procedure we run through the building anyway to check for anyone inside. Thankfully, the property was vacant” said Fisher.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
