A High River man has admitted to a horrific assault on a newborn baby and says he did it because he wanted to hurt the child’s mother.

28 year old Dale Walter Kunath, who is not the baby’s father, has pleaded guilty to two charges of aggravated assault.

The six-week old child was rushed to hospital in late June of 2010 with injuries to his anus and genitals and burns and blisters on his feet.  

The child has since undergone reconstructive surgery but remains scarred.

Kunath will be sentenced in November.
