Provincial opposition parties are up in arms over more outlandish excess for Alberta Health executives.

The Calgary Herald reports about 50 top executives, some still working for Alberta Health Services, some already retired, will make off with ‘supplementary pensions’ worth around $35-million.

In just one of the cases current Alberta Health Services C.E.O. Chris Eagle will collect about $1.4-million from the supplemental retirement plan when he steps down over and above an already generous pension plan.

The Health Minister says the generous payouts were agreed upon under the old regional boards so Fred Horne can’t explain why they were put in place.

Wildrose critic Shayne Saskiw says the plan is outrageous and obscene while the NDP says it’s a reflection of 41 years of PC entitlement.
