Canadian peacekeepers will be remembered this Sunday with a service in Garrison Green on the 10th annual Peacekeepers Day.

The public is invited to attend a ceremony at 11 a.m. at Peacekeepers Park and includes a full military service with Reveille, The Last Post, prayers, the laying of wreaths and a few remarks from dignitaries.

Volunteer Shael Gelfand said the memory of lost peacekeepers shouldn’t go unnoticed.

“It’s important to honour and pay our respects to those Canadians who have paid the ultimate sacrifice on peace support and peacekeeping missions on behalf of Canadians and protecting our freedom,” he said.

A total of 278 Canadians have been killed on peacekeeping duty and that includes two peacekeepers killed in the past year.

Their names have been added to the wall of honour at Peacekeepers Park.
