The doors opened at six at the Riverstone pub Wednesday morning to watch Calgary’s Carol Huynh go for gold in wrestling and it filled up quickly.

Screaming cheers of support and waving Canadian flags, fans turned the pub into a mad house when Huynh was on the mat.  There was some obvious disappointment with the failure to get the gold again but die-hard fan Brenda Gaunt says Huynh should be proud.

“I think that she has trained really hard and worked really hard and she’s representing Canada, she’s given it her best, that’s all we can ask for her and look forward to whatever however she performed,” said Gaunt.

A few hours after Huynh’s efforts for gold, the excitement built again as she battled for bronze.

With big screen televisions blaring and a huge crowd decked in red and white maple leaf tattoos, some might have thought it was a gold medal hockey game.

Fellow national team member Justine Bouchard, who fell just short of qualifying for London 2012 herself, tells 660News the turnout at the pub was heartwarming.

“It makes me feel so good.   So much pride, just knowing we have a community backing us up and there’s so much love,” says Bouchard.

The owners of the pub expect a big crowd again Thursday morning to cheer Calgary’s Leah Calahan on to what they hope will be another women’s wrestling medal.
