The Calgary Sikh community is extending prayers and condolences to the victims and families of those shot and injured in the Wisconsin Temple.

There will be a candlelight vigil and Chaupi Sahib Paath (prayer for strength) Tuesday tonight beginning at 7:30.

“And then from there, there will be a communal prayer, everyone collectively stands up and we pray for the forgiveness for those that were involved that might have taken the wrong actions, but also for anyone that perished in this tragedy, to look after their souls,” said Tejinder Sidhu, Senior Vice President of the Deahmesh Culture Centre.

Then, Friday  morning, the community will begin a 48 hour prayer that will finish Saturday, seven days after the shootings.

The centre is located at 135 Martindale Blvd NE.
