It takes a lot to silence country music star Toby Keith.
But that’s what a violent storm did Saturday night at the Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose.
Keith told fans: “We’ve got a storm brewing. If you don’t care, I don’t care. I’ll stay.”
But thunder, lightning, hail, and gusty winds eventually forced the super star from the stage and fans scattering for exits and shelter — in some cases, porta-potties.
According to the Calgary Herald, the storm was in stark contrast to conditions earlier in the day when the searing heat had spectators frolicking in short shorts and neon bikinis.
But that changed when Environment Canada issued a severe weather warning.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the music festival is wary of such warnings.
Three years ago the stage collapsed, a woman was killed and others injured when another incident of severe weather hit jamboree.
