Two men are thankful for their rescue after a close call on the Carseland Weir.
Reports indicate the men were purposely going over the weir in their dingie late Sunday afternoon when they got caught in the current and had to be rescued by emergency crews.
RCMP Sargent Patricia Neely explains to 660News one of the men was able to swim the shore, the other was caught in the watercraft.
“As water rescue teams were trying to get him uncaught from the current and pull him free of the Weir, they sent a buoy over and had him attach it to himself so they could pull the dingie and the motorized boat away from the Weir. However this young man was actually pulled out of his dingie and into the water” said Neely.
Fortunately they were able to rescue that man and he’s recovering in Foothills hospital.
