An accident involving a car and a semi-truck on Highway 40 south of Grande Prairie claims the life of a man.

RCMP responded to the accident at approximately 6:30 a.m. Sunday; The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

The initial investigation indicates the north bound car crossed over the centre line and collided head on with a south bound semi-truck.

The driver of the truck was seriously injured in the collision and taken to hospital for treatment.

The name of the deceased isn’t being released pending notification of next of kin.

The exact cause remains under investigation.
