The city is following through on a council decision from a few months ago to add more taxis to Calgary roadways.
Administration drew names of potential licensees from almost 700 applications for the 55 new licenses.
They plan to interview every person selected in the draw and say it could still be a few more months until the cabs are on streets because they need to be made wheelchair accessible.
One condition of these licenses, the taxi’s must work between 10 p.m. and four in the morning on Friday and Saturday nights.
