Its a warning for those who dont like to follow the rules.

Police, fire and bylaw plan to be out on the rivers this long weekend.

Local law enforcement have dubbed their crackdown “operation dry water and web foot”.

They will be looking for rafters with alcohol, intoxication and making sure everyone is wearing their life jackets.

Anyone who wants to roll the dice and bring aboard the booze could face a $150 fine while failure to wear a life jacket is a mandatory court appearance.

Marine Acting Sergeant Ed Perkins tells 660News water levels are still fast and high.

“It has receded since the spring. The inherent dangers to the water still exist,” Perkins says.

Perkins says any vessel under six metres must have PFD’s, a buoyant tow line, a sounding device and a bailer.

Operations Coordinators Kevin Leach tells 660News it will be a successful weekend if anyone stays safe and is fully prepared.

“We love to see to people enjoying recreational activities, that would make it a fantastic weekend,” Leach says.
