Mental illness impacts one in five Canadians with the greatest suffering under the age of 20 and three Calgary entrepreneurs are on a mission to put a colourful spin on the blues.

Blogger and founder of “Going Glue 4 U” Lee Horbachewski wants to create a sea of blue for its second annual campaign on Tuesday, July 31st, 2012.

“Cat’s Eye Vintage & More is putting on a Blue Sale, so from 2:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. you can go down to her store on 17th Avenue southwest. As well, The Hot Yoga Lounge down on 13th Avenue southeast is hosting a BLUE Glow Yoga event at 7:45p.m.”

In addition to fund raising events, the young daughter of Horbachewski, is also selling homemade dolls to raise funds.

“They’re bunny rabbits and little monsters. I shared a picture of them on Facebook and people loved them,” said the founder.

“They were like ‘Okay, $20. $10 goes to Going Blue 4 U and $5 each to the girls.’ So, they have been working tirelessly at creating these cute little BLUESock Dolls.”

With a campaign goal of $25,000 in support of mental illness awareness week September 30th – October 6th, 2012, Going Blue 4 U is aimed at helping people realize they are not alone.
