Airdrie could be home to a new world-class racing facility by 2014, filling the void left by Calgary’s Race City which closed last year.
The new $27-million track, called Rockyview Motorsports Park, would cover 1,200 hectares just east of Airdrie.
According to The Calgary Herald, if work goes as scheduled the first phase could be complete by early 2014 and would include an executive airport.
A news conference is planned for Monday to put the bid for building in motion and to garner financial support from various race organizations.
